The Extended Mind

The Extended Mind Think Tank is a loosely put together informal group of people interested in figuring out what the extended mind is, and how it could be implemented and used. People who have so far contributed actively to the group include:

Technology

Ramine Darabiha – an internet savant, an entrepreneurship coach at the Aalto University, and the founder and CEO of Mysites.com.

Petri Järvilehto – a computer games expert and a co-founder of Remedy Entertainment. Petri works as the senior vice president of console development at Rovio.

Communications Science

Leif Åberg – professor of communication at the University of Helsinki. Professor Åberg is an expert in organizational communications.

Pekka Aula – professor of communication at the University of Helsinki. Professor Aula is in an expert in online communications and chaos theory.

Olli Parviainen – a network analyst, PhD student in communication and the founder and CEO of the network analytics firm Verkostoanatomia.

Petro Poutanen – a PhD student in communication at the University of Helsinki. Petro is in particular focused on creativity.

Psychology

Timo Järvilehto – professor of psychology at the University of Oulu. Professor Järvilehto is the developer of the organism-environment systems theory and a proponent of the systems approach in psychology.

Tapani Riekki – a cognitive psychologist, neuroscientist and a PhD student in psychology at the University of Helsinki. Tapani is working on research and fMRI imaging concerning superstition and the brain.

Philosophy

Sami Paavola – a philosopher specialized in learning and inquiry. Sami works on developing a new learning environment at the KP-Lab at the University of Helsinki.

Timo Tiuraniemi – a philosopher of mind, and a professional programmer. Timo works as a researcher and trainer at Filosofian Akatemia.

Lauri Järvilehto – a researcher in the philosophy of mind, epistemology and semantics. Lauri works as a researcher and trainer at Filosofian Akatemia.
